I am the leader of the PUG meetings here in Kentucky. PUG stands for "Pictage User Group". The group gets together every month to listen to speakers, share information and chat about photo-related topics. Since most of us photographers work alone (or nearly alone) and only see people when we photograph them (or so it seems!) it is so nice to get together with colleagues and hang out. In December we had our Holiday Party at Makers Mark Lounge. In a group of photographers this large can you believe that we all left our cameras at home and only had access to a point and shoot!?
Here are a few photos from the evening:
Myself, Todd and Denise Nichols. It is not a good idea to turn a camera around on photographers. We either freeze up or make strange poses (like me) or both (like Todd, who is simultaneously frozen and in a strange pose!) This photo makes me laugh. Why am I holding up the glass like that? Thank goodness Denise is normal (and so sweet!).
Eric and Deanna Delbridge and Melissa Mann-Bean.
Tara Young and Myself in an aerial shot. ;)
And on to the subject of this post. Don't let me use a point and shoot! I don't even own one. I always take my Canon out with me if I want photographs taken so I am clueless when it comes to these sluggish monsters! I think I had everything in the shot but it took so long for the shutter to wake up and take the darn photo that I cut half the group off! Ah, well. I have to remember to bring my camera next time. ;)

your new haircut is so fantastic, angela! warmly, -melanie-

ha ha, I was just looking at that first photo going, "oh, my god, can I relate to being a photographer in front of the camera!". You look lovely, and like you're having fun... but I know what you mean nonetheless. I tend to freeze on a "funny" (not on purpose) face, or to try to hide and end up with double chins, etc etc. Looks like you guys had fun though!

Oh my! I look like a deer in headlights! I think that's when I saw my favorite wine from across the room being poured out!
