The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. I have photographed in three different states, moved our house, dyed my hair blonde, dyed it back brown (don't ask!), set up a new office and have made some pretty exciting plans for the future (secrets revealed soon enough!).
I have, all this time, been anxiously awaiting the blogging to start back up again. Especially because I knew I had one of the my favorite weddings this year to post about. I remember when Kristen (of Creme Planning) called me to ask my about my availability for a date in September. She told me all about the couple and some of the plans for the wedding and it sounded fabulous. But I was already booked for their date! I was so disappointed. Luckily not long after our first conversation Kristen called back up to say that Heather and Pat had decided to change their date to accommodate my schedule. For a couple to move their wedding date to have me present at their wedding is so amazing. It happens fairly often to me but every time it does I am humbled. It means so much to know that people see such importance in their wedding photography.
So I knew that I was going to love Heather and Pat. When they came into the studio for their engagements it took everything we had to actually take pictures! We just wanted to chat about everything. Both Heather and Pat are definitely patrons of the arts. They commission local artists to do work for them often. They have such passion for art and I was really moved by how excited they were that I was going to be artist to capture their incredible wedding day.
So I am going to do my best to not gush about the wedding day, but I might gush just a little. :)
Kimberly Reed, a fabulous photographer, came down from Pittsburgh to second-shoot for me. Kim has second shot for me in the past and I love having her around. She is so fun. And she always gets fantastic images! Amy, my current associate, also photographed the wedding. We made an awesome team. So...on to what you really want: the photographs!
Alright, so I was totally in love with Heather's Gucci's. They were fabulous.
And her chandelier earrings were gorgeous.
The rings.
And the stunning Elizabeth Fillmore dress.
Kristen's brother is a makeup artist in San Francisco and Heather had him flown to Lexington for hair and makeup.
The guests were all given fantastic Woodford Reserve Bourbon Balls in their gift bags.
Pat! His suit, oh where to start on the suit! Let's see if I can do the story justice. Heather and Pat were in NYC and tried on the Brioni 007 suit. Pat was fairly certain that was the suit he wanted but he waited until their next trip to Saks, in Chicago, to look into acquiring it. It turns out that there were no suits to be had. No where. Pat could not find the Brioni suit in NYC or anywhere. It looked like the suit was not to be. The next time they went up to New York they happened to mention the suit to the concierge at the Four Seasons where they were staying. Jennifer (the concierge) was amazing and had the manager of NYC Brioni on the phone in no time. He actually came over to the hotel and everyone worked together to find a solution to the suit. Turns out there was no solution and the factory was shut down for a month -- so no possibilities! BUT! The president of Brioni calls Pat and they, together, put a plan into motion that has the suit constructed, from scratch, in the homes of the seamstresses. Finally, when the suit was finished it was personally flown from Italy by one of the seamstresses. Is that not absolutely incredible? What a story!
Love it.
Crist Creona ((859.252.6833) did the amazing floral design. Here is Pat's boutonnière. Do you see the peacock feather in the back. And a green cymbidium orchid. Wait until you see the table decor and Heather's bouquet. Swoon!
I love this photo of Heather and Pat chatting right after the saw each other for the first time that day. So dreamy.
And here they are walking into the clear tent to check out the reception area. Nearly everything was custom built for their wedding by
Camargo Rental in Cincinnati.
Note the Louis XIV ghost chairs. Every table had them. Acrylic was the theme of this very modern and chic wedding.
Heather and Pat had a photobooth for their guests. Of course they had to have some photographs taken as well!
The gorgeous ceremony set-up.
Heather's brother walked her down the aisle. Do you see that bouquet!?
This is one of my very favorite photographs. The lighting is incredible. So beautiful.
Le kiss!
Gorgeous and exotic.

Loved the square chandeliers.
Heather and Pat had fabulous signature drinks, see below:

More beautiful flowers.
The tent lit up that evening.
The bars were backlit, which looked so cool.
The menu was incredible. It was five courses, if I recall correctly. The menu was set by Heather's brother, who is the executive chef at Four Seasons in Boston. The food was prepared by Catering by Donna (859. 269.0978). And then everyone was served with their very own miniature wedding cake, baked by the inimitable Martine.
At the end of the evening the guests were able to pick up the photos from the photobooth. They were already framed in the cutest little glass frames. The photo above is Kristen and her brother. As you can tell, Heather made all of us at her wedding, even the people who worked it, feel so much a part of it. See Crist Creona's photos below:
I love this!!! Crist is awesome. Kim, Amy and I jumped in as well...but I cannot seem to find those photos now... ;)
The officiant. And yes, in the top right I believe that is the bible and the bottom left, yes a martini.
Oh yes. And fun was also had!
An image from the end of the night.
It was such a great night that a few days later I was wishing I was back at the wedding and could do it all over again. The families were wonderful. It was a beautiful day and evening. Absolute perfection.
Now...soon...Heather's bridal session!
