You know you love the people you work with when you really look forward to spending three hours in a car with them! Amy is so fantastic.
Amy and I are traveling up to Lafayette, Indiana to photograph the wedding of a fantastic couple, Abby and Zach. It is a three hour drive from Louisville so we are leaving tonight, staying overnight and photographing the wedding all day tomorrow.
Abby & Zach (from their engagements):
I cannot wait for you guys to see your engagement guest book -- it's awesome!
So...what do you think about the new website change? ANGELA-PHOTO.COM
Hopefully by tomorrow the homepage will play a slideshow and a few other things should be changed by the end of day. What do you think?
Also....coming soon....an exciting new blog!!!!
And now on to the wedding day photographs!
The flowers were done by Rob's sister. This is Cindy's bouquet. She did such a beautiful job!
The dress was absolutely perfect for Cindy. This month we will be photographing her bridal session. I cannot wait until we do!
This is one of my favorite photographs from the day because it really expresses Cindy's personality. Her smile is so wonderful and kind. Plus look how gorgeous she looks in her dress!
Oh I love this photo too, this is Cindy's sister DaRae and her maid of honor while they watched Cindy and Rob greet each other for the first time on the wedding day out at Talon Vineyards.
Out at the barn at the Talon (the older one near the Tasting House) It was a gorgeous November day.
We had to use the vines in as many photographs as possible.
A beautiful moment.
Look at that wonderful blue sky! The Talon is so stunning any time of the year!
Rob and his sister, the florist.
Rob and his daughter before the ceremony
This is the flower girl as she is being told how to walk down the aisle.
Cindy is radiant as she walks to the altar.
DaRae and her sister are so close. DaRae was often moved to tears. I can completely understand since this couple was just so perfect together.
Rob was definitely a happy groom!!
The Talon Barn looked wonderful.
I would be remiss if I did not show the food spread! ;)
I absolutely love the first dance. It is a moment that passes far too quickly but is absolutely magical while it is happening.
Rob's mom is so cute!
Cindy's father passed so DaRae's husband, Steve, danced the father-daughter dance with her. Their relationship is so great. Steve, again, is another fantastic person that Cindy and Rob have in their lives.
There was plenty of dancing to be had as well!
And very talented dancers under the age of ten!
I work so often with DaRae & Friends Catering. They are absolutely fabulous caterers out of Lexington. They are so with it: so professional, such a wonderful presentation. You know when you book DaRae & Friends you have chosen the best in the area. And plus I love love DaRae. She is such an amazing caterer and just as fantastic of a person. So when she called me to tell me her sister, Cindy, was getting married in November and that they wanted me to be their photographer I was ecstatic. I knew they would be such wonderful people to work with. And they were!
Cindy and Rob are incredible. From the first time I met them I was so excited that I would be the lucky one to work with them on their wedding day. We knew we wanted to do an engagement session and one of my favorite things -- an engagement guest book. We had such a wonderful time working together. Both Cindy and Rob have such a wonderful energy between them. Here are a few pages from their very cool engagement guest book album:
The next post will be the wedding photographs!
I just received a note from a client that the book that we had ordered, hope against hope, to arrive before Christmas has arrived in time! It was a slim chance. We held our breaths, crossed our fingers, knocked on wood -- and it worked! Well, that and the amazing turnaround time of my online lab, Pictage. I have been working with Pictage since 2004 and love their products, community and forward-thinking attitude. I even met some of my favorite photographers on the Pictage forums.
So thanks to Pictage! Now Heather's mom will have her Christmas book in time to be put into a cute little wrapped box for Christmas morning.
Now...on to the long list of things yet to be accomplished. The office is officially "closed" for the holidays as we are trying to get out last minute packages in time for Christmas. Oh that and I have a annoying little virus that has me moving like a turtle in quicksand.
Happy Holidays!
I am the leader of the PUG meetings here in Kentucky. PUG stands for "Pictage User Group". The group gets together every month to listen to speakers, share information and chat about photo-related topics. Since most of us photographers work alone (or nearly alone) and only see people when we photograph them (or so it seems!) it is so nice to get together with colleagues and hang out. In December we had our Holiday Party at Makers Mark Lounge. In a group of photographers this large can you believe that we all left our cameras at home and only had access to a point and shoot!?
Here are a few photos from the evening:
Myself, Todd and Denise Nichols. It is not a good idea to turn a camera around on photographers. We either freeze up or make strange poses (like me) or both (like Todd, who is simultaneously frozen and in a strange pose!) This photo makes me laugh. Why am I holding up the glass like that? Thank goodness Denise is normal (and so sweet!).
Eric and Deanna Delbridge and Melissa Mann-Bean.
Tara Young and Myself in an aerial shot. ;)
And on to the subject of this post. Don't let me use a point and shoot! I don't even own one. I always take my Canon out with me if I want photographs taken so I am clueless when it comes to these sluggish monsters! I think I had everything in the shot but it took so long for the shutter to wake up and take the darn photo that I cut half the group off! Ah, well. I have to remember to bring my camera next time. ;)
I would be remiss if I did not let my fantastic photographer blog readers know that there remains only two reservations for the Flourish Workshop!
I am so absolutely looking forward to these four days in January. I am looking forward to meeting all of these new and seasoned photographers and to help them get a hold on their photography businesses -- in all the different aspects (and there are so many aspects! oh my!). There is even one shoot that is top secret that I am hoping to learn a ton from myself! The kind of information we are giving out I think will be revolutionary when it comes to the typical kind of information given out at workshops. This is not your typical workshop. It is one filled with energy, one filled with specific information and one filled with step by step instruction. No vague chit-chat about "possibilities", but actualities!
By the way if you are already attending, please take time to follow the Flourish Blog. It is going to updated a lot over the next month and a half with scores of information about the 'shop, about the food, about the cocktail party on Sunday night, about Louisville and about the attendees themselves.

The new studio has been in the works in my mind for years. It is actually coming to fruition in the matter of TWO WEEKS! I have been running around like a chicken sans head, trying to get everything ready. It is amazing to think that by tomorrow nearly everything will be complete. We still have some custom furniture to wait on but most of it is ready to go (construction and painting wise). My interior designer, Ellen Wilson,
has been helping me and she is amazing! I cannot wait to open the doors when it is complete. I will be sure to share some teasers soon enough! Wait until you see the walls and the baseboards (who ever thought you could get so excited about walls, doors and baseboards!).
Party in February to celebrate. I hope you will be there!
On December 5th it will be Gary and my fourth anniversary. I just happened to be looking through some old emails he sent me when we had only known each other for a few months and I found this amazing poem he quoted from one of my favorite French poets, Paul Eluard:
I have separated nothing but I have doubled my
heart,
From loving I have created everything: real,
imaginary,
I gave its reason, its shape, its warmth
And its immortal role to the woman who brings me
light....
Swoon! I am the luckiest!
And here, to share, is a recent photo of Gary and myself -- we took it right after his surprise 30th birthday party:
I just wanted to let everyone know that there are only 5 remaining reservations available for the Flourish Workshop. The interest has been overwhelming and I am so excited to be a part of it!
So if you have been holding back, let the leaping begin! It is time for your business, you art and your self to flourish!
xoxo,
A
